Barbecue Chicken Fajita Bowl

16 comments:

I am on a major countdown to the weekend.  I'm going on holiday Monday and returning on my birthday Friday, so you probably won't see a post from me in a fair few days.  So before I combust with excitement of my impending holiday, birthday and house move - I give you Barbecue Chicken Fajita Bowls.

You'll excuse that there is no pictures of them being made.  Quite frankly, I was too bloody hot to faff around with my camera.  Have you seen outside the window if you're in the UK?  We've got sunshine and actual heat!  HEAT!

Moving swiftly on....

Grilled Peach & Two Cheese Salad

10 comments:

Breaking news here in the UK.  It's actually freaking sunny.  I'm not even talking about a few brief glimpses between the rain clouds.  I'm talking about full on, putting on a sundress & in desperate need of an ice lolly, brilliant hot sunshine.  There is bright blue skies, hardly any clouds and ... oh.. yeah British men feeling the need to walk around without shirts on & pull out the barbecues.

You also know summer has arrived here when I willingly eat a salad for dinner, and not as a side.

Let me share a secret.  I hate boring salads.  Okay, that's not exactly "I'm superman" on the scale of secrets but I'm sure you know what I mean about boring salads...

You know the ones.  Where restaurants will just put a few different types of lettuce into a bowl, drizzle it with some awful dressing and throw a few crumbs worth of the main ingredient on top.  Then charge you a tenner for the pleasure.

Chewy Chocolate Fudge Cookies

20 comments:

Good day all!
So my thoughts on Saturday were:  What am I going to cook this weekend?
The answer it seems, is cookies.
Cookies are my all time favourite treats.  Possibly single handedly to blame for about 80% of my after college weight gain.  Frankly, I blame the Rugrats.  When I was younger, I would sit and watch it and after Angelica would sit and scream for cookies...well... I had to have some too.  One of my most vivid memories is grabbing a stool, and raiding the highest shelf of our cupboards whilst my brothers eagerly awaited the bounty below.

Sesame Twist Rolls (aka booby buns)

21 comments:

Hey all.

So I had a week or so off from blogging and cooking due to lack of appetite & no spare time.  Yeah I know, wah wah, poor little old me.

Nah, it's not that bad.

We're in the very stressful process of getting our first home (they tell it's stressful, but they don't really
tell you how stressful), and so most of my day is spent on the phone, at work, in meetings or crossing anything that crosses in pure hope that everything goes through okay.  Finding the actual house was stressful enough.  I've seen enough crap kitchens to last me a lifetime.  The agents very quickly learnt to take me there early on in the tours.  If I didn't like the kitchen, the house just didn't seem worth it.

So my time has been eaten up.  But not by cooking.  To be honest, I've missed it immensely.  It's my biggest form of stress relief.

So when I finally found myself with a few free hours on Saturday, you have no idea how bloomin' awesome it was.  It was literally "what's in the cupboard and what can I make" moment.  Well, there was a whole lot of unused bread flour and a jar of sesame seeds.

This is the result.

Life gets in the way

In memory of Terry, Barry & James.

You may, or may not have noticed my absence on the blog lately, again.  It's not through any fault of my own, I've pretty much had the week from organized hell.  You know those weeks where you literally say "Can it seriously get any worse/busy/terrifying?"  Well, that pretty much sums up the last couple of weeks.

Spiced Apple Pie Rolls & Awards.

It's going to be a short one today, I have a busy week ahead, and my to-do list is about 12 miles long.  Not that you're here to read about my to-do lists or hectic week.  You're here to see some pictures of food, and I don't blame you, after all this blog isn't called Boring, Lists & Appointments.  It's food, Fork & Good.  Good food, and...forks.  We like forks round these parts.

Before I ramble off in an odd direction, I'll reel myself back in and tell you about these babies.  Apple pie Rolls.  Yes, they look like spring rolls, but bite into one of these flaky treats and you'l get a sweetly spiced apple filling instead of a savoury filling.
